BODY CAM VIDEO RELEASED

D.C. police have released the body-worn camera video of the pursuit and collision with a passing car that killed 20-year-old Karon Hylton, who was riding an electric moped with no helmet.

It happened Friday night, and Hylton died on Monday.

DMV SURPASSES 8,000 COVID-19 DEATHS

On Tuesday, the combined COVID-19 death toll between D.C., Maryland and Virginia surpassed 8,000.

The cumulative death toll now stands at 8,009. That breakdown is:

  • Maryland - 3,980
  • Virginia - 3,384
  • D.C. - 645

This comes as hospitalizations and new cases are on the rise in all three jurisdictions.

HUMAN WASTE PREDICTS COVID-19 SPIKE

Human waste monitoring predicted an increase in COVID-19 cases in a Maryland county this month.

There are wastewater treatment plants in Virginia, Maryland and D.C. using the human waste that flows into their facilities to learn more about COVID-19, and predict outbreaks.

On October 16, Dr. Meena Brewster of the St. Mary's County Health Department announced that there were elevated levels of SARS-CoV-2 particles in the local sewer systems. That's the virus that causes COVID-19.

Today, two weeks later, the St. Mary’s County Health Department is reporting an increase in cases and community spread indicators. More HERE.
