We have seen our fair share of lightning strikes this storm season right here in the Piedmont Triad. It never ceases to amaze. On Tuesday, a lightning strike blew all the bark off a tree. Kristen Massey who lives in Madison said it happened in the Ferris Park neighborhood.

She said it sounded like a bomb went off when it hit and it also knocked down half of the tree. A photo reveals the bare tree with a perfect line of bark left in the yard.

In May, Meteorologist Christian Morgan tweeted out a photo after lightning hit a Pin Oak tree at his house in Asheboro. You can see a burn line straight down the tree and even into the ground from the lightning.
