What's left of Barry continued to wreak havoc Monday on central Mississippi.

The ongoing rain was to blame for a number of wrecks, flooded streets and fallen trees.

Many areas of Mississippi were under flash flood watches, as Barry continued to dump rain across the state.

Barry was downgraded from a tropical storm on Sunday afternoon, but continued to pose a threat all day Monday.

Some of the heaviest rain fell in Warren County, causing soil to soften and trees to fall. A woman crashed into a tree Monday morning as it was falling onto her car on Interstate 20 near Bovina.

Traffic was moving slowly around the metro during Monday's commute.

"A couple of vehicles hydroplaned and slid into each other," said Cpl. Kervin Stewart, with the Mississippi Highway Patrol. "We've got a lot of rainfall coming down. It's not moving very fast. It's just staying pretty much in the area and it's causing the road to be flooded."

The Vicksburg National Military Park was closed Monday because of fallen trees and the threat of more trees toppling over because of the saturated soil, authorities said.

Barry added about a foot of water to the ongoing backwater flooding in the Delta, state officials said. More than 540,000 acres in the Delta, north of Vicksburg, have been flooded since February.

The governor declared a State of Emergency on Friday in anticipation of the storm.
