Northern University student killed in road crash

Dhaka, Jan. 22 -- A female student of Northern University died when a passenger bus hit a motorcycle near Jamuna Future Park in the city on Sunday.

The victim was identified as Nadia, 24, a Pharmacy department 4th year student of Northern University.

Quoting witnesses, police said Nadia, riding on friend Mehedi's motorcycle, was going to Narda area at noon. When the motorcycle reached near Jamuna Future Park area, a bus of Victor Paribahan hit the motorcycle at around 12:45 pm.

Nadia fell on the street and died on the spot, while her friend Mehedi received minor injury, said Officer-in-charge of Bhatara police station ABM Asaduzzaman.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and detained the bus but its driver fled the scene, the OC said.

Nadia, daughter of one Jahangir, hailed from Naryangonj. She was residing in Uttara.

The body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for postmortem. Later, her body was taken to Naryanganj village home.

A case was filed with the police station.
