York International School, Kadawatha branch, celebrated the New Year at school premises on a grand scale. Titled 'York Soorya Udanaya' the event included New Year games and a fair on April 9. Students performed cultural dances and events.

'York Soorya Udanaya' consisted of stalls of home needs, food and drinks, New Year sweetmeats, textiles, flora, computer hardware, sanitisory items, home decors etc. A space was allocated to the little ones to enjoy the bouncers and game zone too.

The school began its first term online, on January 4 and continued up to April 9 continuously and ended with a note of relaxation and enjoyment. Students started physical schooling on March 29 as approved by the Government. They were enthusiastically participating in the New Year programme with their parents at this event.

The celebration was an appropriate way of refreshing young minds which were deprived of student life as schools were closed for more than one year due to the pandemic.

Chairman York International School and York Graduate Campus, Rohan Perera and CEO – Rohan L, Perera, Sudarshi Jayarathne – Manager Commercial Bank Enderamulla branch and D A Sagarika Priyadharshani Athukorala – Principal of Challenge Kids Pre – School graced the occasion as guests. K H Duminda Harshana Srikantha (Sikamai) was a special guest in the programme and compered adding more colour to it.

It was noteworthy that the new normal rules eere followed by the the crowd.

The programme was organized by the Principal Wathsala Senanayake and the academic and administration staff of the school.
