False widow spider: Europe, North Africa

This weekend a grandmother died just weeks after being bitten on the finger by a false widow spider. After undergoing surgery, her health deteriorated further and she died in hospital. However experts have pointed out that a reaction to the bite, rather than the venom itself was likely the cause of the tragedy.
