As many people continue to stay safe during the coronavirus pandemic in the world, a mayor did the unthinkable by hiding in a coffin.

The Mayor from Peru laid in a coffin with a mask covering his face when cops in the small town came to bust him for breaking coronavirus lockdown rules.

According to the Standard UK, the mayor identified as Jaime Rolando Urbina Torres was drunk when the police and his friends took cover as well.

Torres was photographed lying in an open casket pretending to be dead after police caught him flouting coronavirus lockdown rules.

One of his friends lay in another coffin beside him, while others from the group reportedly hid in drawers.

The mayor and his friends were taken to the local police station where they were kept for violating curfew and social distancing laws.

According to media reports, the mayor has been on the spotlight for violating the lockdown rules.

Peru is one of the most hit countries by the coronavirus in South America following closely behind Brazil.
