Mum gives birth to healthy quadruplets

The birth went smoothly without any complications, and the mother and her four baby girls are reported to be in good health.

The quadruplets are identical twins, making this event even more exceptional. It is worth noting that quadruplet births are exceptionally rare, occurring in just one in 700,000 pregnancies.

"Somali woman gave birth to #quadruplets in #Banadir Hospital. Maryan Mohamed Hassan, a 38-year-old Mother and babies are in good health," a tweet by SONNA read.
"The quadruplets are the first to be born naturally in the hospital's history. The Mother came from a rural area near #Adale in #MiddleShabelle," it read on.

Medical technology has aided in the conception of approximately 90% of quadruplets, making this occurrence even more astounding.

Health minister visits new mum and babies

Mariam, who now has seven children, previously gave birth to twins during her most recent pregnancy and was surprised to discover she was carrying quadruplets just hours before giving birth.

She travelled a distance of approximately 120 kilometres to the hospital in Mogadishu, where the delivery took place.

The Health Minister, Ali Haji, also visited Mariam on the same day to check on her and the newborns.

This news comes less than three years after a Somali mother gave birth to quintuplets at the prestigious Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Hospital, highlighting the remarkable nature of multiple births.

Final year student welcomes five babies

In similar news, a Nigerian mum who welcomed a set of quintuplets revealed her children's faces.

The lady, Oluomachi Nwojo, posted a video on her TikTok handle to show off the children to the world.

News went rife in October 2022 after she gave birth to the babies as a final-year student at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike.

When it became known that she had given birth for her boyfriend, some members of the public rallied around her and the children.
