PCB accepts media partner`s apology for sub-licensing PSL rights to betting channel

The Pakistan Criclcet Board (PCB) has accepted the apology of its media rights holding partner for its act of sub-licensing the live streaming of the 5th Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches to a UK-based betting web channel without seeking the Board`s permission.

`Techfront International FZE today reiterated its regrets to the Pakistan Cricket Board and sought an amicable resolution to an outstanding dispute between the parties,` a PCB press release stated on Saturday.

Quoting the statement of the said company, the PCB the press release added: `Techfront International FZE acknowledges it was not proactive in obtaining prior permission from the PCB in respect of specific sublicensing and in that process it was not aligned to the spirit and provisions of the Rights Agreement with PCB with regard to HBL PSL V`s live-streaming rights.

`We have extended our regrets and apology to the PCB and lool( forward to their sympathetic consideration in the matter.

In response to that, the PCB stated: `We appreciate the right holder`s apology and detailed explanation.

At its own end the PCB shall put in place more stringent measures to ensure extra vigilance; enhancement of internal monitoring processes and procedures; continual issuance of clear guidelines to our partners so thereis a betterunderstanding ofthe dos and the don`ts.

It may be mentioned that the PCB took a firm stance after coming to know about the sub-licensing of the rights to the betting company. The PCB brought it into the notice of the media partner and after short correspondence, it succeeded to stop the coverage of the PSL matches on the betting channel after almost two weeks in March.
