An explosive new book has made a series of jaw-dropping claims about the late Queen Elizabeth II – including details about a private battle with cancer during her final years, The Daily Mail reports.

The Queen passed away in September 2022 after spending more than 70 years on the throne, making her the longest reigning monarch in history. According to “Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait,” an upcoming biography written by author and broadcaster Gyles Brandreth, the Queen suffered from a type of bone marrow cancer.

DID QUEEN ELIZABETH SUCCUMB TO CANCER?

It isn’t exactly clear if it was in fact cancer that the monarch succumbed to, but her death certificate officially listed her cause of death as “old age.”

“I had heard that the Queen had a form of myeloma — bone marrow cancer — which would explain her tiredness and weight loss and those ‘mobility issues’ we were often told about during the last year or so of her life,” Brandreth wrote in the book.

“Currently, there is no known cure, but treatment — including medicines to help regulate the immune system and drugs that help prevent the weakening of the bones — can reduce the severity of its symptoms and extend the patient’s survival by months or two to three years.”

The book also reveals the Queen’s stoicism following the husband of her husband, Prince Phillip, to whom she had been married for 73 years. Queen Elizabeth is reported to have confided in her lady-in-waiting that keeping busy with her royal duties helped her cope with the loss, refusing to give in to grief. In addition, the book touches on the Queen’s decision to strip Prince Andrew of his title, following his controversial interview with the BBC about his relationship with convicted sex predator Jeffrey Eppstein.
