JOHANNESBURG - Former Crime Intelligence head, Richard Mdluli, has been released on parole.

He was sentenced to an effective five year prison term in 2020.

Mdluli was convicted of kidnapping, assaulting and intimidating Oupa Ramogibe in 1998.

Ramogibe had married Mdluli's customary-law wife, Tshidi Buthelezi.

Mdluli was also charged with Ramogibe's 1999 murder but those charges were later withdrawn.
