Kaizer Chiefs: Zwane the only THIRD black coach for Amakhosi since 1994

Kaizer Chiefs have a new head coach in Arthur Zwane, who was appointed on a three-year deal on Thursday morning.

In doing so, Amakhosi went with the idea many of their fans had which is to go for a local coach in their rebuilding project.

And in Zwane, Chiefs have a coach who understands the culture of the club having been a player and a coach at the club for over two decades.

Now, by appointing Zwane, Chiefs have also given another black South African coach to lead their huge brand.

Zwane is the ONLY THIRD black coach to lead Chiefs since  1994, and this is certainly huge news considering that the Glamour Boys hardly entertain the idea.

The first black South African coach in 1994 was Trott Moloto who had a short stint as a Chiefs coach before Augusto Palacios was roped in.

In 2015, Steve Komphela became the second black South African coach to get the Chiefs coaching job since 1994 and he would leave in April 2018.

WILL ARTHUR ZWANE DO BETTER AS KAIZER CHIEFS COACH?

Both Moloto and Komphela left Chiefs without winning a trophy as coaches, and expectations will be high for Zwane.

Zwane comes at a time when Chiefs are desperate for trophies as it has been seven full years without a major piece silverware.

The next three seasons will be crucial for Zwane to try and wachieve just what Chiefs hired for which is to win trophies.
