Royal expert Katie Nicholl claims that King Charles III had a nickname for his daughter-in-law Meghan Markle in her book The New Royals

Katie Nicholl claims King Charles III had a nickname for Prince Harry’s wife Meghan Markle in her new book The New Royals. Nicholl claims the nickname was Tungsten.

Tungsten is a hard steel-grey metal of the third transition series that has the highest melting point of all metallic elements.

“Charles reportedly nicknamed his future daughter-in-law ‘Tungsten’ because of her toughness and resilience,” Nicholl wrote according to Entertainment Tonight.

The former Suits star reportedly got her nickname when she showed resilience. This was during her and Prince Harry’s 2018 appearance with Prince William and Kate Middleton at the Royal Foundation Forum.

“It was, according to one aide, the moment William and Kate, who was heavily pregnant, realised they needed to up their game,” Nicholl wrote.

“The Cambridges [now the Prince and Princess of Wales] had already signalled their intention to be more than ‘ornamental royals’ and had, along with Harry, made a huge success of their mental health campaign Heads Together,” she continued.

Nicholl claimed that Meghan was the breakout star from the “Fab Four”.

“But Meghan was the breakout star of the foursome. She was polished, passionate and funny, using all her TV-honed skills to present her case. That was a wake-up moment for William and Kate when they realised that Meghan was very impressive, very confident and very capable, according to a source,” wrote Nicholl.

The King may have used the nickname as a term of endearment in the past but it is unclear if he still does – after Prince Harry and Meghan announced that they are stepping down from their royal duties in 2020.

Meghan also reportedly requested to meet with the King to clear the air before they returned to California last month.
