Orlando Pirates defender Olisa Ndah makes AFCON 2021 debut

Orlando Pirates centre-back Olisa Ndah made his debut at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against Guinea-Bissau on Wednesday night.

After being an unused substitute in the opening two matches of Group B for the Super Eagles, Ndah was given some minutes in the second half.

While Nigeria had already booked their spot in the knockout stages with two wins in as many matches played, they needed to keep that record intact.

Guinea-Bissau were resilient in the first half although Nigeria showed just how strong the side they are in the second half.

NDAH IN AFTER NIGERIA’S SECOND GOAL

Guinea-Bissau held their own against Nigeria until the 56th minute when Umar Sadiq broke the deadlock for the Super Eagles.

William Troost-Ekong then doubled Nigeria’s lead with 15 minutes of regulation time remaining to ensure that his team finishes top of Group B and three points ahead of Egypt.

And soon after Nigeria’s second goal, the technical team introduced Ndah in an attempt to shut the back door and try to keep Guinea-Bissau at bay.

The minutes Ndah got to under his belt for Nigeria add to the experience the lanky defender already has on the international stage.
