The Football Association may can the planned gala dinner to celebrate the career of England great Wayne Rooney .

They are weighing-up pulling the plug in the wake of his arrest in Washington, the Sun claim.

England's all-time top scorer was arrested by the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority for public intoxication and swearing on December 16, 2018.

According to reports, FA chiefs will hold talks with Rooney’s team this week before deciding what to do.

"He was later released on a personal recognizance bond."
