World's oldest DNA found in mammoth tooth

Scientists from the Center for Paleogenetics in Stockholm have sequenced DNA from a molar belonging to a 1.2-million-year-old steppe mammoth. Previously, the oldest DNA to have been sequenced was between 560,000 and 780,000 years old.
