Johnsonville is recalling 95,393 pounds of its ready-to-eat jalapeño cheddar smoked sausages that may contain green plastic

The US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Friday that extraneous material could be present.

The Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin establishment reported that its peppered cheese meat items produced and packaged on March 12 and 13, 2019 were produced nationally and internationally. 

The problem was discovered when via a consumer complaint regarding the green hard plastic in the product. 

Johnsonville notified the Food Safety and Inspection Service that they received the message of concern. 

Products subject to recall are the 14-oz. film, vacuum packages with a best by date of June 9, 2019 on the back.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products but anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them but throw them away or return to the place of purchase.

In January, Johnsonville recalled approximately 48,371 pounds of raw ground pork patty products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically black rubber.
